Río Negro

In 1912, Venezuela is in the grasp of the dictator Juan Vincente Gomez who rules the gigantic country as if it were his own private property. At the same time, in the former province of Rio Negro, the people are awaiting the arrival of the new governor sent by Gomez. Osuna is this new governor. He arrives with his wife Maria Fernande, his two small children and his brother-in-law, Gilberto. That very evening, in the government house, a ball is held in honour of the new governor. Just as the party is in full swing, the confrontation everyone has been expecting takes place: Carrera, the brutal local chief, turns up with his mercenaries to show that he is still the top man in the region.
