When I first saw this film a while back, I quite enjoyed it. But now I just find Eddie Murphy loud, theatrical, and boring. His fart jokes really aren't funny anymore, and it doesn't even compare to the original version. Jerry Lewis was also a nutcase, but his film had meaning and depth. This really doesn't have that.

Not too bad a plot... Eddie Murphy passable, humor quite madcap but quite sleazy in places. Average.

A shitty, below-average comedy whose rating rises only after watching its even worse sequel, in comparison to which it is above-average intellectual entertainment.
