In this 1996 DOCTOR WHO TV movie, the seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) is returning to Gallifrey with the remains of the Master when the TARDIS malfunctions and lands in San Francisco on the eve of the new millennium. Events lead to the Doctor's eighth incarnation (Paul McGann) facing off against the not-so-dead Master, now in physical form (Eric Roberts). The understandably confused Doctor, fortunately, is aided by an attractive surgeon (Daphne Ashbrook). (jakelijan virallinen teksti)

englanti The 90s did not favor the Time Lords, and the only recorded adventure is this odyssey in San Francisco. Although I consider the original series to be a commendable endeavor, which you can't really watch anymore with full attention and a serious expression, I found time for the Eighth Doctor's appearance and storyline bridging the gap between old and revived adventures as part of the celebration of the entire phenomenon's 50th birthday. And it must be said that what I had suspected for some time was confirmed – that Paul McGann deserved to travel in the Tardis for much longer than just a single feature-length film. His duel with one of the most iconic enemies and his flirtation with an earthling are great, and though the whole story suffers from certain flaws or occasional lapses in logic, this (at the time still futile) attempt to reimagine the blue box has something to it. The fourth star, however, is only for the excellent acting of the central trio and undoubtedly out of pure fandom. ()
