Juonikuvaukset(1)

Oklahoma, 1873. (SF Film Fin.)

englanti A juicy cowboy film with a great unconventional script about justice, hanging and morality. Clint Eastwood is awesome and the opening lynching scene is very surprising. The final shootout is quite unusual as is the ending and the romance line isn't exactly conventional either. Just a very original take on the western. The presentation of a public hanging where beer and pretzels are sold is second to none. The music doesn't quite fit but it’s not completely useless. ()

englanti "Go to hell, Cooper!" - "I've already been there, Judge..." A pretty good "American spaghetti movie", but it wouldn't have been as good without the lead actor. I liked how great Clint conceived the main character - he's basically a combination of his dollar man with no name and Dirty Harry. The opening twenty minutes, with the hanging, the cutting, the transfer and the arrival in town, are amongst the best scenes in Eastwood's films. Thanks to the straightforward script, the film has a good pace, slowing down only during the romantic side story, which is followed by the finale. I was also intrigued by Frontiere's old-school music with two rather energetic themes and Pat Hingle as the uncompromising judge. ()
