Shurik, a naive student of the rites and traditions of the Caucas region of the Soviet Union, falls in love with Nina, "a Komsomol member, an athlete, an activist, and just a beauty," who is "kidnapped Caucasian style" with a bit of his help to be forced to marry a senior local official.
