The Lake at the Bottom of the World

Join an international team of scientists and engineers on a unique expedition to Antarctica. Their mission is to reach a lake that lies one kilometer under the ice. But at first, it is not certain that there is a lake at all. There are multiple problems that are to be expected in the harsh Antarctic climate. The adventurous scientific expedition is plagued by vagaries of weather and technical equipment, but also overwhelmed by joy and excitement over interdisciplinary collaboration as well as expected and unexpected discoveries. The audience finds themselves at the center of a fascinating natural and social environment and gets a glimpse into the mysteries of climate change, the fragility of the polar ecosystem, and human relationships within the scientific community.
