Älypäät (The Young Ones) on BBC:n vuosina 1982 ja 1984 tuottama brittikomediasarja, jossa neljä nuorta yliopisto-opiskelijaa (Mike, Neil, Rick ja Vyv) jakavat yhteisen asunnon. Hahmot kuvaavat stereotyyppisesti 1980-luvun Britannian nuorisoalakulttuureja ja luokkaeroja. Sarjalle tyypillisiä olivat yllättävät ja surrealistiset tilanteet sekä väkivaltainen slapstick-komiikka. In the early 80s, British studios had already aired such series as Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Goon Show, and Spike Milligan's productions, so their successors had it significantly easier, and television studio executives decided to target a young audience and come up with something truly alternative. Thus, the most eccentric sitcom was created - The Young Ones - about four so-called students with radicalism and poseurism in their blood. Traditional sitcom exaggeration reached its limit here; it simply could not go any further. Essentially, there is a lack of a plot, and each episode shatters into a series of absurd sketches and more or less funny gags and catchphrases. Like every work that operates on the edge and explores the uncharted, there are numerous scenes here that I would rather classify as mistakes and ventures beyond the boundaries of awkwardness. The part that draws inspiration from the absurd exaggeration of Monty Python resonates with me, while the part that showcases sneers and the Johnny Rotten-style punk aesthetic annoys me. Overall, it is unbalanced. On the other hand, the regular appearance of popular non-conformist music bands in each episode is a big plus for a certain age group and fans of the alternative music scene. Overall impression: 50%.
