“My husband once drove 800 km, just to sleep with me. Now, the other side of the bed is too far for him,” reveals Emilia to her one-night-stand. Her and her husband, Paul, appear to be the perfect couple with three kids. Now approaching 50, the two have grown apart more than just physically. Emilia asks for a break from their relationship, before diving head first into life. Paul, meanwhile, turns to pills and beds his daughter’s teacher. The situation escalates when the two bump into each other again at a birthday party. Is divorce the only way out? Oscar-winner Florian Gallenberger adapted the eponymous best-seller, sending his characters, played by Christoph Maria Herbst and Christiane Paul, on a rollercoaster ride called midlife crisis.
