Elokuva perustuu Homeroksen vuosituhansia vanhaan taruun seikkailija Odysseyksesta, Ithakan kuninkaasta, ja hänen 10 vuotta kestävästä kotimatkastaan voittoisasta Troijan sodasta. The ravages of time are quite visible on Homer’s Odysey. When I was younger, I found the adventures of Ulysses more thrilling than I do now with the passage of time. At first glance, you can see that this is a TV movie, which may not be a bad thing – e.g. Merlin – but in this case I found most of the acting too stiff and technically it was not a great film either. Of the characters, I was definitely most impressed with Athena, played by Isabella Rossellini, and the most interesting part was Ulysses' return, but you have to wade through two and a half hours of plot to get to it.
