Dragon's House-Hunting

This could have been a very good anime series if it had primarily focused on the details and stuff around the accommodation facilities for its multitude of fantastical creatures. After all, there was a lot to work with here, the different creatures’ lairs probably could have done with different features, and with some thought, a lot of entertaining and interesting details and storylines could have been made out of this basic idea. Well, yeah, the fantasy real estate agent has to take a back seat here, even if we do get the occasional pearl, albeit mostly towards the very end. We are therefore otherwise watching the journey of a blubbering and pathetic dragon with their patient and calm Demon Lord instead. I do not think anyone wants to watch someone as whiny and irritating as Letty, the main protagonist, and while it is nice that he has a heart of gold, unfortunately, most of the would-be jokes associated with his character are more sad than funny, and even the stuff based on the misunderstandings, which accidentally make Letty, the biggest loser, look like the most horrible monster, is only entertaining for a while. When Letty finally finds someone he needs to take care of, you might have even been forgiven for believing, for a moment, that our dragon might finally start to grow up, and we could see some kind of progress being made. However, I do not think there was any real discernible difference. I think the best episode was, partly because Letty was not in it, the one where they dealt with Diaria’s past, making that episode so much more heartfelt and entertaining, and I wished they had done more of that or even ideally made the whole anime series like that. How much can a terrible main protagonist ruin your experience of an average anime series? Well, if it is someone like Letty who is given that much screen time, then by at least one point! I am awarding this 4/10 and please, no more good dragons! (20.06.2021)
