Raised in country New South Wales, Lauren graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Film studies, English and Digital Video. In 2008 Lauren moved to Melbourne to pursue filmmaking at the Victorian College of the Arts. In that year she wrote, directed and edited Hunting and Love and Other Red Spot Specials, earning her the school award of Most Outstanding Postgraduate Student Overall. 2009 saw Lauren complete her Masters at VCA Film and TV, with her graduating film Vigilant! Healthy! Wholesome! taking home the prize for Best Masters Film.
