Roberto Garza

Biografia

He is a founding partner of the film producer and distributor Artegios. He has produced several fiction feature films, among which stand out Espérame En Otro Mundo (2007), by Juan Pablo Villaseñor, and the science fiction De Día Y De Noche (2010), by Alejandro Molina, of which he is also a co-screenwriter, awarded with the best script award at the Fantastic Film Festival of Montevideo (2011). Within the documentary genre, he is the producer of the multi-award-winning film Los Ladrones Viejos (2007), by Everardo González, winner of the Ariel prize for the best documentary and the Guadalajara Film Festival (2007). Roberto is also the producer and editor of the documentary Los Niños De Morelia (Juan Pablo Villaseñor, 2004), winner of the public prize for the best film at the Morelia International Film Festival (2004). In 2015 he appeared at the Festival of Morelia, his production El Paso (2015), by Everardo González. In 2017 he produced the same director’s documentary, La Libertad Del Diablo (2017), which won the Amnesty International award at the Berlin Film Festival, 2017. Among several awards received, the film shone at the Guadalajara International Festival 2017, where he won the Mezcal prize for the best Mexican film. In 2018 he concluded his debut as a director, Torre x Torre (2018). In the academic area, he was founding partner and co-director of the film and production school, Arte 7 (2001-2014), as well as a professor of cinema at the University Iberoamericana, Santa Fe campus (1995-2002). He has also ventured into film criticism in various media. He has collaborated in the Letras Libres movie blog, and with Marvin magazines and Frente magazine.
