Claus Drexel

Biografia

Claus Drexel, was born in Germany and has lived in France since the age of three. He studied film in Grenoble and Paris. His short-films C4 (1996), Max au Bloc (1998) and The Divine Inspiration (2000 – with lead actor Keir Dullea) have appeared in more than one hundred festivals worldwide and have won several awards. His first feature, Affaire de Famille (2008 – with André Dussollier and Miou-Miou) was awarded the screenplay prize from the French National Cinema Center and won the Best European Film Award at the 25th Avignon Film Festival. On the Edge of the World (Au bord du monde), his feature-length documentary about the homeless people of Paris, premiered in 2013 at the Cannes Film Festival (ACID selection). The film won several international awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize in Thessaloniki. It received the "La Croix – Documentary of the Year" award in 2014 and has been nominated for the prestigious Louis-Delluc Prize. French critics have listed On the Edge of the World among the fifteen best films of 2014.
