Hjärndöd (1992)

englanti Do you want to know how to safely cut your way through a horde of zombies with the help of a lawnmower? Peter Jackson will give you detailed instructions, they might be useful some day. And please don't overlook the Master himself in a small role. Yes, the freak in the morgue, the little, goofy, bespectacled freak who gets a dead body exploding on a table :)

Bad Taste (1987)

englanti A non-stop parade of highly entertaining nastiness. Aliens shot to bits, a tasty lunch of vomit, and a snack of human brains eaten with a spoon as the icing on the cake. “I'm a Derek and Dereks don't run!” Peter Jackson kept his word, didn't give up his struggle as a filmmaker and made more great and extremely entertaining films like Bad Taste.

Blade Runner (1982)

englanti A sci-fi cult-classic for true connoisseurs. I remember years ago when I was at the premiere of the Director's Cut, there were three of us sitting in the cinema. Enjoying the visual beauty of Blade Runner on the big screen back then was a completely different experience than a cropped image on TV. It's not easy viewing, it's not popcorn entertainment. The whole film follows an ambient mood that has to be felt. And if you see Blade Runner with perfect sound, you can really enjoy Vangelis' masterful soundtrack and catch the various sonic flourishes in some scenes, like all sorts of whispering or ambient sounds that add to the mood of the film. Ridley Scott created a fascinating, dark, futuristic world, and even if he hadn’t made anything else after that, he would still have been an immortal director.

Star Wars: Episodi I: Pimeä uhka (1999)

englanti If I put aside the somewhat overwrought plot, I have no major complaints. But Jar Jar Binks stepping on shit, Why George Lucas, why?

Mieletön juttu (1998)

englanti It's true that a little more pace wouldn't hurt and not much actually happens, but what do you expect from a retelling of a Leonard's novel? And yet, I like this film, it breathes a sense of well-being. Clooney is likeable, Lopez is hot and a surprisingly decent actress here too, and Soderbergh is a mark of quality. I also enjoyed Don Cheadle in his villainous creation, his act with the fish always makes me laugh. Also, the scene where Clooney dumps Lopez in the trunk of the car and the dialogue that accompanies it is absolutely magical. The overall pleasant mood of the film is perfectly underscored by David Holmes' laid-back soundtrack.

Vargarna kommer (1984)

englanti A dreamy tale of a 13-year-old girl in a fairytale world with werewolves with a slightly horror atmosphere that will keep the perceptive viewer spellbound. Some may not like the slow pace, but there is one thing that cannot be denied, there are not many visually refined and original films in the world. In my opinion, one of the most interesting films of the 1980s, which made a household name out of Neil Jordan.

Vargarnas klan (2001)

englanti Another French attempt to make a film in a Hollywood package, but this time it got out of hand. The result is a mess, with a monster like in Predator, a victim caught like in Jaws, love, sex, kung fu (in 17th century France !!), an Indian, a mutant villain, etc. It's terrible crap, but I have to say I wasn't bored.

Blackjack (1998) (TV elokuva)

englanti One of the few films with Dolph Lundgren that I liked. Of course, it's not Lundgren's merit, but the gentleman behind the camera, John Woo is simply amazing.

Dnes naposled (1958)

englanti This is the kind of film that should be shown in alcohol rehab clinics. Terrific performances! There are no words to describe what Zdeněk Štěpánek does. It’s a pity it isn’t shown on TV. As far as I know, it only aired once, about a year ago on CT2 as part of a programme about booze.

Straka v hrsti (1983)

englanti Mad Max Czech style. A very bizarre and original film. I'm amazed that such a thing could have been created under the commies. It only ran in a few theaters after the revolution. I recommend it wholeheartedly, but I have no clue where you can get it.
