Final Destination 5 (2011)

englanti The plot of the fifth instalment of Final Destination is one big catastrophe. And if the word catastrophe has some definition, here it is multiplied by two. It’s still better than the instalment number four but it can’t beat the second movie, which was quite shocking and the opening scene was on a whole different level than this movie. Anyhow, it was still properly brutal and I must say that I more or less enjoyed myself. I’d just cut it down to the dying scenes because I don’t need all those fillers.

Finding Neverland - tarinan lähteillä (2004)

englanti After a long time, my rating differs from the vast majority. Unfortunately, I have to say in case of this film. The character portrayed by Johnny Depp is one big child who has an imagination so thick that you could cut it with a knife, and he could give a piece of it to every child in the world who is lacking in this respect, which is nice. But I wish it were told a little differently than in such a boring way. When the great Johnny was not in his imagination with “his” children, I was very bored and I couldn’t wait for the movie to end. It’s all the more pity because I really liked the character of James Barrie. After all, imagination is the most amazing thing our mind has, not only in our childhood but also in adulthood. We just have to let it run free, as James Barrie managed to do.

Firma (1993)

englanti The good thing is that Tom Cruise can boast about his good acting performances since his early childhood. He may be, as a graduate of law school, a quite a rookie, but in the end, you actually believe his nerve-wracking performance. It isn’t really the best thriller I’ve ever seen but if you are in the mood for something from the 1990s and at the same time know movies by Sydney Pollack, you won’t be offended. Just prepare for a really long running time, which may annoy you at times.

First Light (2018)

englanti This is an easy-to-digest flick. It’s kind of OK as a movie, but all the actors are like dead fish and on top of that, nobody does much talking. It’s a forgettable young adult sci-fi. It wouldn’t have been as bad if the actors made you like the characters a bit.

First Reformed (2017)

englanti The Czech version of the title says it all: Despair and Hope. Especially since the hope in this case is rather sporadic, borderline nonexistent. The thing is that the movie indirectly hits at the Church, which is represented by a depressed priest portrayed by Ethan Hawke. He is doing quite a good job of it. The film even has a number of interesting ideas and the right atmosphere for those who revel in sadness… but what happens at the end of the movie, that’s simply a bit off.

Fisher King (1991)

englanti It was filmed by Terry Gilliam, so brace yourself for a not-so-typical way of storytelling. Sometimes, it feels more like a fantasy than the New York’s very bottom. But it still stays so realistic that my eyes were glued to the screen for those two hours, even despite the fact that in the beginning, I was thinking to myself: if it goes on like this, it’s barely worth two stars. But after a while, I got used to the storytelling style, I started to outright enjoy the story and I loved every single minute. Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams’ acting performances were so amazing that the movie wouldn’t be even half as good without them.

Fist Fight (2017)

englanti A really cool American comedy with lots of profanity. And I liked that the most. The movie is very sincere and enjoyable and that is thanks to its humor. What else do you want from an American comedy?

Fitzcarraldo (1982)

englanti Klaus Kinski and Werner Herzog are insane. They conveyed human madness in the form of Fitzcarraldo and turned into a movie of the same name. And I really don't know who the bigger freak here is: Kinski, who looks like he's just stuck a fork into the socket, or Herzog, who wanted the staff to move the whole ship over the mountains in Peru and even used it for a final scene that I’ll never forget. It’s a movie that makes it easy to realize that someone could have gotten themselves killed during the filming (which did actually happen), and also that there was no one from the crew who didn’t also become a stuntman.

Five (2016)

englanti Rent for EUR 2,000+, pizza for EUR 200+. That’s the right and politically correct France and I’m really glad that I saw it; and that not a single one of those French guys ever wondered about any of the amounts? Well that’s clear… The movie itself has its better moments, but its worse moments as well. But the French bums were about as pleasant as a splinter in your ass so I was glad that I actually managed to watch the film to the end.

Five Minutes of Heaven (2009)

englanti A fairly rough drama that – based on some of the events – could have only happened in Ireland. Because within just a few minutes, the story in itself is creating the most nerve-wrecking encounter of two characters who would like to deal with their past. Personally, I must say that it’s been a long time since a movie made me stop breathing and I remembered to inhale at the end. Liam Neeson played the broken man just as well as James Nesbitt played the revenge-hungry one. The result is – as I can see from the reviews on this site – a little contradictory, but I must say that I was personally happy. With the entire movie.
