Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003)

englanti Arrogant main hero, devilish goddess of discord, and a funny crew with a slobbering dog. Alongside excellent action with great one-liners, not just by animated standards. Those who haven't seen it won't understand my enthusiasm.

Fanny ja Alexander (1982)

englanti Watching Fanny and Alexander is not like watching an ordinary movie, it's more like reading a novel. It can be a bit demanding to watch it all at once, but returning to it in the right mood brings a delightful experience. Although Bergman's life confession lacks surprising or dramatic moments (and is therefore difficult to focus on), it is a captivating narrative with amazing performances and beautiful dialogues.

Angel-A (2005)

englanti Content and visual stereotype. The hundredth seen subject brings nothing new and all the hypothetical power of the dialogues is lost in their unbearable shouting. Jamel Debbouze was great in Amélie and in the second Asterix, but he should never, really never, receive serious roles because he is simply laughable. Moreover, the script doesn't help him much because his character stops behaving like a repulsive idiot about ten minutes after the "transformation". And I don't know if the ending was supposed to be touching or impressive, but it had the exact opposite effect and I can't remember the last time I felt so embarrassed watching a movie. The second star is for the pleasant visuals and Besson's attention to detail.

Moonlight Mile - Surun tie (2002)

englanti I understand all the criticisms that can be directed towards melodramas, but this crazy journey, be it at midnight or any other time, exactly falls into the genre that I love so much. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes carefree people in a small town, crossing life paths, fateful encounters, decisions, and love.

Crank (2006)

englanti Revelation. A brilliantly crazy and absurd affair with divine action and tons of one-liners. Crank will make you laugh, charge you with energy, and not break a sweat while doing it. Jason Statham as Chev Chelios found his perfect role, and whether it revolves around his girlfriend or slimy villains, I can't believe what the script can come up with. And the wild action, taken to unimaginable extremes, is the reason why I recommended this little treat to even action-hungry viewers. It sent shivers down my spine, and I happily smiled that someone served me scenes on a silver platter that I've always wanted to see. The fact that Neveldine and Taylor clearly went crazy before shooting the second installment is a different story, albeit a very sad one even after many years.

Guess Who (2005)

englanti Although half of the characters annoyed me, I am relatively satisfied within the genre of semi-barbaric romantic comedy. Kutchera is always laid back and Bernie Mac has a well-written role. Even though in movies where more than half of the characters are of black complexion, I usually suffer due to constant shouting, this is an honorable exception. The best part is, of course, when the two main guys reconcile and brainstorm a plan, the rest doesn't quite catch on, the rest of the plot often doesn't quite catch on either.

Goal! (2005)

englanti Spoilers - Football scenes can be filmed perfectly, but the script ruined everything. From the moment the point loss in the Champions League was revealed, it was clear to me that my beloved Liverpool would ultimately falter. Additionally, scenes like "That's my son" or "He's definitely watching now" are not what I would expect in a supposedly serious attempt, presented in such an exaggerated manner.

Resident Evil (2002)

englanti Confusing action, stupid clichés, irritating characters, and zero engagement. When I only root for Michelle Rodriguez in her classic pose of "I'll kill anyone who argues with me" and only one scene entertains me, it's really bad. Anderson's tangled direction foreshadowed a series where the first installments are ironically worse.

Hurjapäät: Tokio drift (2006)

englanti Underrated ride without major obstacles and boring parts, where not even a predictable story and not-so-amazing actors bother at all. The screenplay takes some details from the original, including a surprising cameo by you-know-who, and even though it logically can't reach it, I will gladly slightly raise the embarrassingly low rating with a drifting detour.

Out Cold - kylmää meininkiä (2001)

englanti The occasional antics of a sleeping friend can be amusing, but if the creators had added more humor instead of trying to wrap Casablanca into a teenage variation as the main storyline, I would be more reconciled.
