Asterix: Jumaltenrannan nousu ja tuho (2014)

englanti One hundred percent Asterix, nothing to worry about here. Perhaps if Philippe Rombi had composed the music at least a little in the style of Vladimir Cosma, it would have been even better, but otherwise I can't really think of any complaints. The difference between the goofy Asterix and the Vikings and this fresh work, which retains the spirit of the comics while feeling modern without having to include teenagers and 21st century references, is almost abysmal.

Pixels (2015)

englanti Relaxing silliness with a surprisingly tolerable Adam Sandler, skillful direction by Chris Columbus (you can really tell that the film was made by an experienced man with a sense of humor) and a script that could (should) have been at least a little more thoughtful, so I could forgive Pixels even more. I wondered, for example, how one character in the eighties used cheats to play a video game on a coin machine, or that four riders were first absolutely needed to hunt down the giant Pac-Man on the streets of New York, but when after a while - even before the start of the "game" - the group lost one member, it did not matter. Well, what can you do? At least it was quite fun - if only that's how the new Ghostbusters had turned out...

Brouk v hlavě (1969) (teatteritallenne)

englanti A successful, typically French farce (it is not difficult to imagine it being made into a film with Belmondo in the lead role), whose biggest star for me is surprisingly neither Vlastimil Brodský nor Jiřina Jirásková, but Josef Bláha, who, especially in the second act, performs 100% comedy and simply outshines everyone.

Naše bláznivá rodina (1968)

englanti A very pleasant film with a great main heroine, whose inner monologues could be the envy of even Woody Allen, not to mention Juno. Seriously! It's a pity, however, that the film gives up on them for quite a long time in the second half, slows down and only picks up again in the last quarter of an hour. In addition to Bohumila Houdková, Jiřina Jirásková and Vladimír Menšík gave very nice civilian performances, so Naše bláznivá rodina is definitely worth seeing.

Iso kiltti jätti (1989) (TV elokuva)

englanti It would be nice if all those who currently reproach Steven Spielberg's The BFG for being too childish and simple would also watch this animated version. Perhaps the comparison would at least lighten their eyes a little and they would better appreciate Spielberg's undoubtedly more mature and deeper take on Dahl's story.

Svatba upírů (1993)

englanti A very good movie - surprisingly good. And I ignored it for so long... Yet this is a horror comedy with all the trappings of a horror film that is funny when it's supposed to be funny, and scary when it wants to be. At the sight of Viktor Preiss and his undead nobility, the heart of every vampire lover must be filled, the trio of Petr Nárožný - Luděk Kopřiva - Petr Pelzer is riding on coffins and doing something indescribable, and even the youngest Rudolf Hrušínský is not completely useless. The only uninteresting character is played quite uninterestingly by Iveta Bartošová, but unfortunately nothing can be done about that.____"And one more thing. One of you is sucking my bandleader dry! I invited him along for big money all the way from Salzburg. He wanted to write so much more, and now he's composing a requiem!"

Oso kiltti jätti (2016)

englanti A magical Disney fantasy movie about a girl who "still has a lot of dreams to catch" and a giant who can make those dreams - at least some of them - come true. Steven Spielberg has given The BFG with his trademark perfectionism, and although it is indeed primarily a film intended for children, adults will also find something to like in it if at least a little bit of a child remains in them. After all, the message of this rarely unhurried film is so universal... The two lead actors (Ruby Barnhill, who I hope we'll hear from again, and the digital Mark Rylance, whose digital form hasn't taken anything away from him) are terrific, the direction has plenty of ideas (the giant's hiding from humans, Sophie's hiding from ogres), the scenes are magnificent (dream catching), and the humor, unlike Hook, is perhaps not downright simple (not even in the case of the farting, which is very funny). John Williams' music, reminiscent of Home Alone in places, is once again perfect, this time adorned with beautiful flute solos. I'm just a little sorry that The BFG got to the movie theatres only with dubbing. It's not bad, but you can see that in the original version some of the emotional scenes will be even more emotional. And I'm saving the fifth star for that.

O rybáři a rybce (1986) (TV elokuva)

englanti Josef Kemr in particular does something amazing in this TV fairy tale - and not only by fairy tale standards. Moreover, the gloomy atmosphere of the story is well balanced by detached humor, so the result is an enjoyable spectacle with a very interesting ending (with a small question mark intended more for adult viewers).

Den, kdy unesli papeže (1995) (TV elokuva)

englanti "We know everything!" - "You know shit." - "We know everything, the police got an anonymous denunciation from Rabbi Feldman!" The excellent Petr Nárožný reigns over the story without exaggeration, which, despite the always tricky, naive "playing at being America," manages not only to entertain, but also to come up with a commendable idea. From the rest of the cast, I would like to highlight Vlastimil Brodský.

Profesionálové (1987) (ohjelma)

englanti It would have been even better if Oldřich Kaiser and Jiří Lábus had played other characters besides Olin and Jurin, but even so, Profesionálové succeeded. It is a sample of their typical humor from the period of the TV Kouzelníci and the audio recording Nekonečná deska, from which the well-known insult contest moderated by Jan Rosák, a relatively unknown scene with a gangster-style recession stand out... And, of course, also verses by Mirko Hýl performed by Jan Přeučil.
