Jim Jefferies: High & Dry (2023) (ohjelma)

englanti In the evaluation, I went too far, so I gave the Australian at least one five-pointed star more than he really deserved. I had a good time and enjoyed myself, but in the special Intolerant from 2020, this issue was significantly losing from my point of view. It wasn't just because I saw some jokes in yesterday's special, mainly it all seemed unfinished to perfection. So why did I reach for weaker five pieces despite my partial dissatisfaction? Because Greta's birth almost killed me. The finale really knocked me out and I was laughing out loud. / Lesson: I would easily skip details from the comedian's sex life. 5*.

Slow Horses - Strange Games (2023) (jakso)

englanti If it were the opening episode of the whole series, I definitely wouldn't go above three five-pointers; considering that I have already completed two races with Slow Horses, I added a weaker fourth piece, because I expect to have as much fun during the third series as in the previous two cases. The episode contained more than one weaker moment, on the other hand, I really enjoyed those repeated bursts of subtle humor and I can look forward to further continuation. / Lesson: Alcohol is the broom of humanity. An alcoholic is a person who sweeps significantly more so that others can breathe. 4*

Jim Jefferies: Intolerant (2020) (ohjelma)

englanti Jim Jeffries - whom I saw today for the first time - was a great experience for me. The truth is that this comedian obviously does not worship Cimrman's shrapnel, but I must admit that I didn't care at all because all those vulgarities perfectly matched his unique style. I don't know exactly how he does it, maybe it's because of his Australian accent, maybe it's a result of all his addictions, but I really enjoyed his style a lot. But it wasn't just about his way of performing, Jim Jeffries had perfectly prepared material in which he rode into everything and everyone, including himself, while in some dark corner, politically correctness was dying in painful seizures of stroke. / Lesson: Be careful what you actually applaud for.

Bodkin (2024) (sarja)

englanti From the series, I didn't expect much and after the first two episodes, I felt like I didn't get much. But from the third episode, I started to be interested in the story, I started to enjoy the mismatched central trio, the plot gained a better pace for me and I began to fully enjoy the alternation of serious tones with Irish humor. However, if there was something I enjoyed from the pilot episode, it was the Irish English. I won't pretend that this whole thing didn't squeak more than once on strangely twisted logic, but it didn't bother me too much because I unexpectedly had a good time despite all the creators' mistakes. / Lesson: True money is in eels. Who would have thought?

Bodkin - Empty Your Pockets (2024) (jakso)

englanti But yeah, it worked out, because the Irish creators did not give up at the end, they did not half-ass their work, and most importantly, they wrapped up the whole thing in a decent way. It was really interesting for me to see how the differences between the villains and the rest of the involved characters (journalists, Interpol, Posránek and others) gradually disappeared, so in the end I had trouble determining who the bad guy was and who the good guy was. I basically came to the conclusion that Mirek Dušín should not offer anyone membership in the club. I had a good time, though, because I was amused by the Irish Romanian, who will never stop a car again, and the Irish Rat Catcher, but I was disappointed by the Irish crater after Czech Semtex, considering the quantity I expected at least an Irish Macocha. / Lesson: Sing something catchy, the crowd will follow you.

Bodkin - Ends Justify Means (2024) (jakso)

englanti I’m not usually a fan of episodes filled with hallucinations, but the creators pulled it off pretty well. The plot kept me hooked, the story moved forward, and two of the main characters are in even deeper trouble than before. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all wraps up and hoping the creators don’t take any silly shortcuts. Here’s to a solid finale! / Lesson learned: Never stand in front of a person who is throwing up.

Bodkin - Peace in Our Time (2024) (jakso)

englanti This episode has been the best so far for me. Maybe it's because I love stories told from different perspectives, but mainly because the old Irish mystery finally started to unravel — and to my surprise, the partial explanation actually made sense. I had serious concerns that the unfolding case would become the weakest link, but I couldn't have been more wrong. / Lesson learned: Sometimes you just have a bad day. 4*+

Bodkin - Poison or Something (2024) (jakso)

englanti It looks like I'm really starting to get into this story. Besides Dove, the other two members of the main trio are finally getting more screen time, and the plot is starting to develop nicely. The creators even gave me a nostalgic moment with Cyndi Lauper. There were a few moments that left me confused, though. Maybe it’s just my ignorance, but I always thought dead bodies in water would look more bloated than dried out. And the coroner's lack of interest in the victims was surprising. But hey, what do I know about Ireland, right? Overall, I had a great time with this episode. Boredom didn’t even come close, so I'm sticking with my four-star rating. / Lesson learned: If you're hoping to finally find out how eels like to do it, brace yourself for disappointment.

Bodkin - Perfectly Innocent Life (2024) (jakso)

englanti No sooner had I casually pondered a potential lower rating in the previous review, the situation suddenly changed for the better. Coincidence? I doubt it, it's probably just one of many mysterious Irish enigmas. I immediately guessed that the third episode would be somewhat different, because the Dove put on a different coat. It may sound strange, but I quite enjoyed the farewell to the deceased, the plot that followed was also not bad, and if the story continues in a similar spirit, there is a risk that I might even like the series. / Lesson learned: Electric scooters are meant to be shared.

Bodkin - Who We Are (2024) (jakso)

englanti Looks like three stars is all I can muster for now, as the second episode didn't really grab me. Dove's ongoing feud with the church keeps her as my favorite character by far. I'm so indifferent to the rest of the characters that I needed a close-up just to figure out who was being buried at the end. If the mysterious Irish plot doesn’t start making more sense soon, my interest and rating are bound to drop. / Lesson learned: Don’t succumb to the temptation of gambling.
