A famous war drama with a very well-known musical motif, which although far from reflecting the actual course of events and strongly romanticizing the destruction of the bridge, still functions as a strong story and has a decent amount of tension and emotions. Overall impression: 80%.

An extraordinarily impressive drama about the cost of human freedom and dignity, set in the prison environment of the United States in the 1960s. Those mirrored glasses on the guard's eyes will stay in my memory for a long time. One of Paul Newman's pivotal roles. Overall impression: 90%.

I didn't expect anything extraordinary from this, yet the result negatively surprised me. Even in the context of the genre, it's a desperately clichéd spectacle that resigns to nothing more than a run-of-the-mill shooter that steals from the sci-fi genre. It is definitely not a horror or sci-fi, just a cheap action movie. I don't know the budget they had, but the majority of the film is drowned in darkness, and such poor lighting is quite rare - only a total blackout at the production site could excuse this. The editing is chaotic, at times the viewer has no idea who is shooting at whom, who is screaming, and whose blood is splattering everywhere. I haven't seen the first film, and after watching this, I have no desire to. I get the feeling that after this discrediting of the subject matter, no one will ever make Alien 5... Overall impression: 10%.

A slightly above-average western, which includes all the classic genre clichés, such as a fearless lone hero against overwhelming enemies, naturally equipped with incredibly precise aim, strong fists, and a tough gaze. However, thanks to the cast and a decent screenplay, it remains a fully functional affair even today. An interesting aspect is the racial motif in the story (an Indian can be killed because they are not considered a human being) because it was precisely at the turn of the 50s and 60s when an uncompromising fight for equality and an end to racial segregation of the black population occurred. Overall impression: 60%.

I have not yet read the book this is based on and therefore do not know exactly how well Juraj Herz managed to translate Bohumil Hrabal's text into the film version. However, I must state that thanks to Herz's distinctive directing style, it is a unique cinematic delicacy in black and white with interesting characters and a peculiar atmosphere. The casting is excellent, with the director selecting non-actors to represent a certain type of human, and Herz did an excellent job at that. In some cases, he uses a certain exaggeration, but it doesn't bother me at all. It is raw and impactful. A waste collection center as the final station of human memories, destinies, and artistic artifacts. Overall impression: 85%.
