Amélie (2001)
A French oddity that nearly bored me to death. I didn't find it funny at all, let alone entertaining or intelligent. The visuals and the acting are repulsive and the script is not very interesting. I really don’t get how this can be the 24th favourite. Thumbs down for me. 40%.

Front Line, The (2011)
A solid Korean war film from the skilful Jang Hoon. It doesn't reach the quality of My Way or Brotherhood of War, but still a decent affair. Technically solid, with well shot battles (too bad they were hardly bloody) and a surprising killing of own soldiers. Decent. 75%.

Pitch Perfect 3 (2017)
Third time's the charm. Anna Kendrick is classically very sweet, Rebel Wilson is cracking and very entertaining, Hailee Steinfeld has a decent step forward in my opinion. The songs are traditionally fine, and the more action-packed ending is pleasing. I had a lot of fun watching this chick flick. 65%

The Ugly Truth (2009)
An excellent romantic comedy with a great central duo. Gerard Butler is properly cheeky and his sexual innuendos to women carry the whole film. Katherine Heigl is very cute and properly sassy. Great dirty fun with a novel idea... 80%

Let's Go to Prison (2006)
A fine comedy from a prison setting that I never get tired of. It has a decent idea and decent actors, I just expected a bit more jokes. A decent one-off that won't offend, and for those who aren’t very experienced it can be an even better choice. 65%

Mo gong (2006)
I caught up with this Chinese cult-movie set in ancient times where an unknown man (an excellent Andy Lau) comes to a city to defend it against other nations. The strategy is definitely the most interesting thing the film has to offer. The battles didn't blow me away that much, but still a good film. 75%.

Johnny Mad Dog (2008)
Another one of those tough films where kids with guns terrorize the neighborhood, but I found Sin Nombre and City of God much more sophisticated. There are some rough scenes and the local brats don’t mess around. Story-wise a bit weak, but the acting is very good. Definitely a strong film, but it didn't hit me that hard. 70%

The Break-Up (2006)
Well, that was excellent. A beautiful Jennifer Aniston and a very funny Vince Vaughn. It may be a rip-off of The War of the Roses, but what the hell, I never get tired of these partner troubles in movies and here I found myself rolling on the floor laughing countless times. Certain situations are set up and contrived perfectly and it’s missing just a little bit to get a golden rating. 80%

Down with Love (2003)
Nice retro with a seductive Ewan McGregor and a beautiful Renée Zellweger. Although I hardly laughed, it's entertaining enough and the final twist is very commendable. Fine stuff. 65%

Be Cool (2005)
Before Law Abiding Citizen, F. Gary Gray directed a star-studded comedy that has some funny moments, but overall doesn't pull off much, due to its long running time. John Travolta is excellent though, and The Rock as a gay bodyguard was hilarious.
