I've gotten used to the fact that the mere existence of many mainstream titles automatically generates their porn parodies. But I was slightly taken aback that the new Tarantino, who is brutal enough on his own, would generate this trash. This film has little to do with the actual events of the Sharon Tate massacre and is a bare-bones piece of futility that certainly does not need to be revisited.

I've always liked Jumanji, but I've only heard very reserved reactions to Zathura. Yet I really see no reason not to indulge in this adventure. Chris Van Allsburg's original books are short, only 32 pages long, and they are the kind of texts that are best used to overwhelm a preschooler's attention span. That's why it's great to see how filmmakers can create such good feature films from such sparse material. True, the original Jumanji is also a good family film while Zathura is purely a children's film, but it is also very authentic in terms of the psychology of the relationship between the two brothers. The ideas in the universe are great, the kids' reactions are perfect, and surprisingly, Kristen Stewart (as the awkward older sister) fit in perfectly. Jon Favreau understands kids and that's why Marvel is doing so well today.

"Great Expectations" is one of my favorite Dickens novels. Only rarely will I turn down another discovered adaptation. This particular one has its own charm due to its cast, of course. Charlotte Rampling is quite young for Havisham, but Ioan Gruffudd is a very good upright Pip and Justine Waddell also did well. If you like the BBC of the 90s, go for it.

A nice biopic, but nothing special. It has beautiful pictures that flow nicely. Connoisseurs of the life and work of Yves Saint Laurent will certainly know more, and yet for those who don't revere his brand as much, it can nevertheless be an interesting introduction to the world of French haute couture from the 1950s onwards. Saint Laurent was born in Oran, so it is very interesting to see this influence on his life and fashion. Otherwise, the film is a nice melodrama, and Saint Laurent's relationship with Pierre Bergé is of course imbued with emotion. Pretty models and insight into pop culture are a given.

While Love in the Ring was a sensation in March 1930 in the form of a part-talkie starring the debuting Max Schmeling, a few years later a new distribution version was made for the Anglo-Saxon market under the title The Comeback, with Schmeling's previous sports biography as a new component. In this edited form, the film is available on DVD, and if anyone watched it for reasons other than Schmeling's personality and career, they would be disappointed. Yet the film also features the great Max Machon, Schmeling's partner, coach and manager, playing practically himself. Not many minutes remain of the original story of a young athlete who has trouble choosing between the cute Renate Müller and the spicy Olga Tschechowa. As a reference experience, however, it's good. Finally, Max and Olga formed a real couple at the time, and they broke up in August 1930 when Max first saw Anna Ondra in Fairground People. But that's another story...

Beautiful. Mořská panna (The Mermaid) is an excellent social conversation film based entirely on the glitter of Jiřina Štěpničková. The theme is the same as many global films, such as Lady of the Tropics with Hedy Lamarr or Love Affair with Irene Dunne. This modern retelling of Štolba's Art Nouveau joke is a return to a popular story that had already caught the attention of director Medeotti-Bohác in 1926. From this first adaptation, only Růžena Šlemrová was transferred to the new one. There is indeed something pleasant about watching the endearing love games between Štěpničková and Veverka, and later the refined bar ladies Pleyová and Prchlíková, who first showed off their great dresses and later their social graces. Unfortunately, the film was broadcast from a really crappy version and that takes away from its chances of finding an audience.

The year has come and gone and the life of prostitutes in London continues. Some have found their own way to survive, others are addicted. Two major players from past series are on their backs. But for how long? The biggest surprise is Liv Tyler and her Lady Fitz, who has found a best friend among the sales ladies and is gracefully struggling with life. The Wells ladies (the excellent Jessica Brown Findlay and Eloise Smyth) are very skilled and run the business in a way that would make their mother proud... but this relative peace is short-lived. Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville) is looking forward to the new generation, which is perfectly supported by a new group of blackmailers. It's an incredible experience as a viewer. You get to practice new vocabulary, and unfamiliar slang, and have a lot to do to stay on top of things from such intense turmoil. There are not a lot of spicy scenes, only a few sexy shots. Life before 1789 wasn't easy for anyone and there's plenty to think about here, even the escapes to America play their part.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Howard the Duck. The film stars the likable girl from Back to the Future and Jeffrey Jones. It's just like the genre movies I remember from the 80s. Of course, comics are available today, so there's really no reason not to understand.

Unless you’ve fallen in love with the new marriage, there was no point in mentioning or returning to Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Now that Pitt and Jolie are divorced again, they're left with a pretty tasteful, stylish action film. All the unnecessary emotions are gone, and that is a good thing.

I'm too tired to list all the mistakes and nonsense that Motl and Wolf and co. have made again, but the few minutes are shockingly shitty again. Although I do understand that Stanislav Motl doesn't see the difference between Anna Ondráková and Anna Letenská in his accelerated work. Another fundamental problem is the interview with Blažena Urgošíková from the NFA, who unfortunately just repeated her old opinions based on old impressions and sympathies. Listing every mistake would mean commenting on every sentence and photo, which is crazy. The problem is when no one bothers to think and the proven cadres are given a free hand. The additional acting scenes are just cheap filler to material where no one has had time to invent and twist anything.
