Tess (1979)

englanti Another Thomas Hardy story that made me want to shoot myself. It’s either film therapy or Victorian logic for the advanced. However, with the passage of time, I return to Hardy in many guises, and I will always see Tess through the prism of Polanski's tragedy. Alas. Even though the truth is that the story of the abused Tess would have been enough of an identity crisis on its own without the Manson crew of imbeciles.

Lucifer (2016) (sarja)

englanti The Lucifer series can be strangely more digestible than the Constantine series. It's something completely different from the comic book premise, as it’s a pure generic crime drama with supernatural elements, one slowly-building relationship, and a super charismatic main character. But I like the fact that Lucifer was remembered in the Arrowverse.

Kybernetická babička (1962)

englanti While Trnka had a cybernetic grandmother, Lynch soon planted and grew her (or actually had her in organic form). A certain generational frustration has culminated in many projects on a similar theme, these being the most pressing. Freud would be happy for all of us.

Vášeň (1962)

englanti A cruel satire stylized to the contemporary times. Trnka's classical style has been subordinated to the new wave of fashion and his original characteristic artistic expression is disappearing. At the same time, Trnka's appeal to certain boundaries in each of us plays hardball.

Jak stařeček měnil, až vyměnil (1953)

englanti Trnka has traditionally worked with the elite of the acting narrators of the modest Czech landscape, but as with Miler, Růžena Nasková has presented something so original that it almost makes me sick. It's not just the layer of pathos, it's something from a time when film didn't exist and now it's rubbing off.

Sen noci svatojánské (1959)

englanti I'm fine with Trnka of the 40s and I like the Trnka of the 50s. With A Midsummer Night's Dream, I'm also saying goodbye to him, because Trnka of the 60s is not timeless, he's just disappointed, which is heartbreaking, but I'm not going to torture myself because of it. The fact is that the Trnka/Kainar/Shakespeare connection is very eloquent, tender, spicy, and charming to the extent that everyone should experience it at least once in their lifetime.

Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka (1954)

englanti The Trnka/Werich collaboration is simply joyful, all three chapters are exactly what one needs. The episode with the Kontuzsovka herbal liqueur is regular proof of that. From Hatvan to Haliče, Svejk's train accidents and Svejk's Budějovice anabasis is what Trnka and Werich agreed on, while the 4th episode already had a developed script, but Trnka was already fed up with Hašek. However, those who demand quantity and don't care about quality can always watch Látal's 1980s series on demand.

Staré pověsti české (1952)

englanti Serious commentary can only be delivered after the current case, which is suffocating, has blown over. It’s very strong and irreversible. However, it will work with the Trnka/Jirásek storyline. Finally.

O zlaté rybce (1951)

englanti Congenial and everyone's favorite Trnka-Werich connection. National identity named in a popular fable. The audio version also exists because it can do without the picture.

Keisarin satakieli (1948)

englanti Amazing, great, wonderful. I marvel at the colorful acting sequence with the children and the whole story about the Mandarin baby who loved his nightingale. The version with Boris Karloff's commentary is strange, though. Why comment on what has already been imparted in pictures?
