Rookie is a drama about the impossibility of fulfilling one’s own dreams and the desire to realize them at least through someone else. The film has functional relationships between the characters, but it is unoriginal and lacks a resolution of the dramatic arc. And despite the momentary drive it gets from the impressively filmed motorcycle races, it is formalistically dull.
