Fell in Love with a Girl

Unfathomable are the ways of love: At times, they may even take us across oceans and present us with a completely uncertain future. This was filmmaker Kaleo La Belle’s experience. In this unique and highly personal essay film, we follow American-born Kaleo, his partner Emma, his ex-wife Karin and their three children on an experimental family journey. In order to keep their love alive and their family together, the patchwork family have decided to leave Switzerland in order to live in unison under one roof in the USA – conflict, however, is unavoidable… Skilfully interspersed with music, the filmmaker tells his personal story of love, separation and new beginnings, a story that every viewer can identify with on some level. Fell in Love with a Girl is an honest and poetic encounter featuring the complexity of love and the importance of family.
