Gevangen bliksem

In 1983 Geert Dijkhuis, a physics teacher, announced his plan to generate clean energy from artificially created ball lightning. It was Dijkhuis's view that in the future this might become an inexhaustible power source. In order to test his theory, he established the Convectron NV company. The required capital was raised by issuing shares. Between 1983 and 1990 several experiments took place, but due to a lack of money the research came to a standstill. So there is still no satisfactory answer to the question as to whether Dijkhuis's theory is right. Dijkhuis has now set his hopes on new funds, which would enable him to continue his tests. Gevangen bliksem follows Dijkhuis's pursuit of his inexhaustible energy source. The film shows a passionate inventor who clashes with the established science, but intends to fight till the end to prove that he is right. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
