A Beautiful Dream

“For her upcoming film, I Don’t Want to Talk About It, María Luisa Bemberg needs a dwarf.” That’s part of the ad that was published in the media during the pre-production stage of what would become the director’s final film. Among those who responded to that ad was Alejandra Podestá, who ended up becoming the film’s protagonist alongside Marcello Mastroianni. Through testimonies from friends, crew members and the words of Podestá herself, who was brutally murdered in 2011, Un sueño hermoso tells us the story of this shoot, of the relationship Podestá and Bemberg had, and ends up being a heartfelt tribute to these two women. Among its invaluable archival footage, the film includes an appearance by María Luisa in the legendary tv show Función privada talking about feminism. (Mar del Plata International Film Festival)
