Sonic Youth - NYC and Beyond

Ten years after their final album, the shadow of Sonic Youth continues to grow. Not only was it one of the most influential contemporary rock bands, but also one of the main attractions of the New York scene during the three decades that Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley were actively making music together. nyc and Beyond is a compilation of images belonging to the group’s private collection – the majority of which have never been exhibited publicly –, consisting of previously unreleased interviews, together with concerts from various eras. From early recordings in analog video from the early 80s to their final performances – from cbgb to Hyde Park, as well as various other places in the world -, the film tells the story of the relationship between the band and the city that gave birth to them, and sheltered them throughout their history.
