Volker Schlondorff's CIRCLE OF DECEIT eloquently captures the chaos of war through the eyes of German journalist Georg (Bruno Ganz). As his marriage quickly degrades, Georg decides to escape to war-torn Beirut, where he hopes to document the country's civil war in an essay for his newspaper. Along with his photographer friend Hoffman (Jerzy Skolimowski), he finds himself immersed in the immediacy of the violence -- dodging bullets and conducting interviews with dangerous subjects.
