Ray and Irma are a devoted couple living a normal life in rural Illinois, until Roy decides that his life must change and confesses to Irma that he's a woman trapped in a man's body. A slightly above-average, in places amusing drama about a man who decides in his old age that he would make his life’s dream come true and become a woman. But there’s a catch: he has been seemingly happily married... with children for the past quarter century, lives in a relatively tight community and nobody has the slightest idea that he has this desire. This interesting topic is needlessly dragged out into a running time of two hours and the movie prefers to avoid looking into some of the most interesting aspects of this. But the overall impression is improved greatly by Tom Wilkinson in the main role.
