Agatha Christien tunnettu belgialaisetsivä Hercule Poirot (David Suchet) ratkoo taas epäselviä mysteerejä yhdessä aisaparinsa kapteeni Hastingsin (Hugh Fraser) kanssa. Lyömättömän parivaljakon tie kulkee Brittein saarilta aina Välimerelle saakka, kun he ponnistelevat rikosten ja murhien parissa. (SF Film Fin.)

Simeon Leen testamentti (1994) (S06E01)

englanti Another great episode that shows that the longer duration of the series suits it well, because it is possible to play out the whole game in a more complex and interesting way. Here, anyone can be the murderer again, and the individual clues are beautifully scattered throughout the whole story. And yes, I was pleased that I had revealed the killer before Poirot did. ()

Neiti Lemon erehtyy (1995) (S06E02)

englanti These long episodes are simply worth it. It's entertaining, but what's more, there's a plot that's incredibly interesting. It starts off with just some things disappearing, but gradually leads to the uncovering of the real truth. The uncovering is gradual, but very effective and efficient. This time it will be hard for you to figure out who the real murderer is, even though you might have an idea why. ()

Golf-kentän murha (1996) (S06E03)

englanti Maybe it was because I was quite tired, but this episode didn't really impress me much. It's not as complicated as it seems, but on the other hand, it's still very entertaining, which definitely does a great service to this series. An important element here is also the opponent that Poirot has. They are great rivals. ()

Mykkä todistaja (1996) (S06E04)

englanti After a while, we returned to this fantastic series, and I must say, I really enjoyed this episode once again. The skeleton is clear. Lots of suspects with the possibility that anyone could be the murderer. But the individual kills are still imaginative and there are characters to keep you interested. The Poirot myth continues to develop brilliantly. ()

Roger Ackroydin murha (2000) (S07E01)

englanti It was a bit disappointing that the specific format of the novel didn't quite make it into the film, but that doesn't change the fact that this is an interesting story where Hercule Poirot doesn't lose any of his strength, even though he's decided to retire. He is not afforded that anyway, and so he has a very interesting case before him. ()

Lordin kuolema (2000) (S07E02)

englanti A beautifully intricate episode, unfolding slowly, but with the return of Hastings and the reunion of all the characters (Poirot, Hastings, Japp, and Miss Lemon), it's easily digestible. The tangled pursuit of the killer that follows is truly intricately woven. You can guess who the killer is, but when Poirot elucidates it, it's brilliant. ()

Varjossa auringon alla (2001) (S08E01)

englanti I enjoy these longer episodes. You can't even really tell that it was filmed after the year 2000. Hercule Poirot is still funny, plus you can see that his character has evolved. That's very good. Moreover, this case is wonderfully tangled, which is evident even in the final resolution, which is very inventive. An excellent episode. ()

Murha Mesopotamiassa (2001) (S08E02)

englanti It reminded me too much of the previous installment, Evil Under the Sun, especially in terms of plot structure, where there was still additional confusion to mislead the audience, perhaps a bit unnecessarily. Nevertheless, a story is created that is complex. And here, it's also a bit stretched. The region of Iraq, however, is sufficiently intriguing, or rather, the locations depicted are so fascinating that at least this aspect grabs you. ()

Viisi pientä possua (2003) (S09E01)

englanti It's an excellent episode that also has an interesting narrative form, which is overall reflected in the visual aspects of the film, both in the case of flashbacks and in the present. It's beautifully tangled, and until the end, you won't know who the real murderer is and why. It’s also well shot. It doesn't matter that there's not even a hint of humor. There's no need for it. ()

Teetä kolmelle (2003) (S09E02)

englanti For quite a long time, you don't even have the feeling that a crime actually occurred. However, Poirot will show you that the crime did happen and confronts the murderer in a rather interesting form, where there is no traditional group gathering where Poirot speaks, but rather a variation that is quite intriguing and innovative. ()

Kuolema Niilillä (2004) (S09E03)

englanti A classic Poirot story, which may not be quite as perfect in this version, but it's still entertaining. Here, it's very apparent that Poirot has shifted to a somewhat more modern approach, especially in terms of brutality, which is noticeably higher in this film. I'm a bit saddened by the disappearance of humor, but the serious storyline suits it well. ()

Kohtalokas viikonloppu (2004) (S09E04)

englanti One of those slightly weaker installments that are still immensely above average. A slightly different storytelling style was chosen, and the story tries to be somewhat more action-packed, more interesting, and more inventive towards the end. It manages to do so to a certain extent, although not perfectly. It's as if the viewer missed out on something. The film has a very long introduction, which might be slightly detrimental. ()

Sininen juna (2005) (S10E01)

englanti This episode simply didn't sit well with me. It's also in how much focus there is on the details of the faces. It just bothered me quite a bit, as well as the whole story, which for me only became interesting essentially at the very end, when Poirot invited everyone to his place again. Here it has its proper twists. ()

Kortit pöydällä (2005) (S10E02)

englanti It's a quite classic episode, which is pleasantly spiced up by the fact that there could be a murderer among them, as a large portion of the people gathered at one party have actually killed someone in the past. Poirot doesn't know who, but he'll figure it out, of course. I like the interesting, creamy color palette of these new episodes. ()

Hautajaisten jälkeen (2006) (S10E03)

englanti The excellent story on which this detective story stands appears almost predictably resolved at the end, but that's just a testament to how well it's written. The straightforward revelation is more a result of you thinking it was clear all along, but in reality, it wasn't. Great characters, well-known names, and an excellent Poirot who remains wonderfully self-centered. ()

Vuoksi ja luode (2006) (S10E04)

englanti These last episodes are pleasantly tangled, where you really anticipate how it is going be resolved because nothing seems clear at first glance. Poirot excels in how he ultimately resolves everything, and his debriefings at the end are simply an anticipated element for me, something I really look forward to. Here again, plot reigns supreme. ()

Rouva McGinty on kuollut (2008) (S11E01)

englanti The idea that Poirot can save a man who was likely wrongly accused of murder and is to be hanged isn't particularly original, but it still adds an extra element, and you want to know how it all ends. The reveal was excellent and I was really entertained from start to finish. A great episode, one of the best. ()

Kissa kyyhkyslakassa (2008) (S11E02)

englanti A great story where there are so many things that grab your attention that you simply can't figure out who the murderer is. Once Poirot starts unraveling everything, you'll be literally amazed at what other stories are possible to devise, and what all the reasons for murder are. Secret identities, interesting characters, and new environments. Everything works great. ()

Kolmas tyttö (2008) (S11E03)

englanti Another beautifully tangled installment, where you simply enjoy watching Poirot unravel who the actual murderer is. In this case, however, it's definitely not as straightforward as it might seem, and Poirot uncovers so many facts that just surprise you. I say that in the most positive way possible. Moreover, there's also more room for humor. ()

Hänet täytyy tappaa (2008) (S11E04)

englanti I have a feeling that these last episodes are among the truly best because I'm enjoying not only the great story but also the somewhat more familiar actors who appear here. This is precisely the case where I was captivated by the tangled plot, which traditionally involves several perpetrators and various deeds, but above all, everything fits together thanks to great characters and the brilliant Poirot.
