Poirot saa eteensä mielenkiintoisen tehtävän, kun hän vastaa myöntävästi ylenpalttisen salonkileijonan, Shaitanan, juhlakutsuun. Mutta juhlat muuttuvat murhatutkimukseksi, kun Shaitana löydetään kuolleena. (SF Film Fin.)

It's a quite classic episode, which is pleasantly spiced up by the fact that there could be a murderer among them, as a large portion of the people gathered at one party have actually killed someone in the past. Poirot doesn't know who, but he'll figure it out, of course. I like the interesting, creamy color palette of these new episodes.

Were it not for a few of Hercule's divine escapades and smug snorts, this would be a rather boring salon detective story with crazy motivation and a troubled ending. Even though I didn’t want to, most of the time I choked on the faint characters and affected conversations. I think that amongst the stories on the level of "a party at a weirdo’s house with murder instead of dessert", this one is desperately average. Half a star for the traditionally great Suchet.
