When Yuko Yoshida wakes up one morning to discover that she's sprouted horns and a tail, she learns something that her mother has been meaning to tell her. You know that battle between the Light and Dark that's been going on since the dawn of time? Well, Yuko's family are the bad guys. So now, Yuko has to defeat a local magical girl to win back some of her family's vanquished power so they can afford to go to the all-you-can-eat pancake restaurant. And, of course, it turns out that the Magical Girl goes to Yuko's school, but Momo's really nice and keeps rescuing Yuko, which is pretty embarrassing and leaves Yuko rather conflicted… but… all you can eat pancakes? Sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't when you're The Demon Girl Next Door! (MVM Entertainment)

Season 1 (2019) (S01)

englanti For me personally this was the most likable (which does not equal the best) show of anime season Summer 2019! I have to admit that I started to grow to love this show even though it took a while for me to fully come around to Shamiko and co. There is a lot of fast talking, so I had to concentrate a lot to keep up, and some of the jokes are a bit puerile and repetitive at times... However, the more I watched it, the better the impression I got of it all was, the more the characters got under my skin, and the funnier I found it. In other words, it matured slowly, like a fine wine, and the last (but not only) episode left me with a blissfully warm feeling and slightly amused smile. I have to praise the originality of the characters, the interesting approach to the magical girl subgenre - in other words, the resulting feeling of it all is very pleasant. Nice and cute 7.6/10. ()

2-čóme (2022) (S02)

englanti The second season of Machikado Mazoku is as chatty, hilarious, cute, and imaginative as the first one. I simply love the energy, and the way everything works really well in a silly way. I like how originally it plays with the whole maho shojo subgenre not just in terms of the story but also in terms of the relationships and character dynamics. The second season is even better than the first one as it starts to tackle more serious problems and issues from season one. The show does it in a sweet and goofy way, which makes for powerful, enjoyable, interesting, and touching moments (Shamiko's back story, Ugallu...) that add even more juice and a bit of depth to the story (you can feel the significance of certain moments). The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about were two new characters (Lico and Tapir) that the heroine meets while looking for a part-time job. But even though they didn't appeal to me that much, they still made sense in the context of the series and were put to good use. The animation and music are still great. So - "Don't give up Shamika! If you keep it up, you're guaranteed to win next season...". 8.3/10 ()
