A raft floats through the vast ocean with only two shipwreck survivors on board: Captain Red, limping on his wooden leg, and his companion, Frog. Soon after, another ship appears on the horizon: the Spanish galleon Neptune. After boarding the ship, the two pirates learn about the golden throne of the Incan king. The first act, when the castaway Walter Matthau becomes captain again, is great. Then comes a decline that lasts until the closing credits. Boredom slowly creeps in, there is nothing to amuse, surprise or emotionally affect the viewer, and there’s no chance to relate to the main characters. In short, this film was a failure and Dino de Laurentiis, as producer, could notch up another flop.
