Snatchers

Snatchers is a well-made horror-comedy aimed at a teenage audience, which it presents the risks of unprotected sex in an edgy way, however, it also has something for older horror movie aficionados - the whole movie is in fact reminiscent of the science fiction horror movies from the back end of the '80s, such as Night of the Creeps, and mostly contains practical effects and aliens with a classic "B-movie" look. Also, it somewhat ventures into controversial topics, like abortion and xenophobic sentiments towards Mexico, although it is constantly dealt with in a sharp-witted light-hearted way. It is filled with comedy, fast-paced packed, dismembered limbs, and can definitely be enjoyed from start to finish. [Sitges 2019] (09.10.2019)

A horror comedy about a high school girl who becomes pregnant after having unprotected sex and gives birth to two aliens who want to exterminate the human race (or something) - all in just two days. In this way, the film focuses on the fears of teenage pregnancy and, thanks to the use of practical tricks and puppets, recalls similar films from the 1980s. Despite the rating inaccessible to young people, the film is relatively tame (torn heads and limbs are the worst of it, there’s no nudity, and the humour needs sharpening here and there). At its core it remains a standard high school comedy about the protagonist's family relationships and her renewed friendship with her best friend. There are a few hilarious ideas and jokes, but they're balanced by dialogue scenes like "we are panicking a little, we don't want others to see it, and we are trying to figure out what we're going to do," which occupy a good half of the film.
