Glimpse

Ernest, an elderly gentleman with early onset Alzheimer's, sits on the bed dazed and confused as the first of three voice messages plays. In it his wife Bertha is reminding him to take his pills. As he gets into his Black suit, Bertha, in her second voicemail, goes off about their irresponsible daughter. She also warns Ernest not to heat up the casserole in the good china plate because they get hot. Forgetting Bertha’s warning Ernest serves the casserole onto a china plate and sticks it in the microwave as Bertha’s third voice message begins. While informing him that she is stopping at their church, she gets distracted by a fellow congregant. (Pan African Film Festival)
