Komediasarja tarkastelee raikkaalla ja hauskalla tavalla seksiä ja deittailua New York Cityssä (missä sarja on kuvattu autenttisessa ympäristössä). Sarja on Darren Starin luoma ja tuottama ja perustuu Candace Bushnellin samannimiseen menestysromaanin. Sarah Jessica Parker esittää sarjan pääosaa eli noin kolmekymppistä kirjailija Carrie Bradshawta, jonka omakohtaiset kokemukset New Yorkin sinkkupiireistä toimivat innoituksena hänen sanomalehtikolumnilleen Sex and the City. Sinkkuelämää (1998)

englanti I also know a lot about sex, but at the same time, I'm not afraid to relegate HBO hits to FX, Showtime, and Starz. Although as I get older, I've become more tolerant of this retro. Especially after a contrasting encounter with The Carrie Diaries. It would be a shame to consider the series worse than it is if one only knows it in passing. ()

Season 1 (1998) (S01)

englanti Season 1 was a bolt from the blue. Mini episodes about relationships, glossed by the author of the Sex and the City column. We were just getting to know her friends on the written lines. With how Carrie first met Mr. Divine, with how she and the other girls reacted to the trends of the 90s. All those remarks about monogamy and the horror of motherhood and marriage didn't take on a concrete form until much later. This was such typical 90s HBO fun, talking bluntly about the sex lives of single women. If so, and if not, then why. ()

Season 2 (1999) (S02)

englanti Season 2 got more episodes or more space to portray the individual main characters. Carrie's relationship with Mr. Divine was transformed, and the failed side characters from Season 1 were forgotten. (What was the name of the guy Carrie set Miranda up with? Nobody knows.) The wedding episode was great, and there was also the cruel new breakup with Mr. Divine. Sex and the City has come into its own. Can Miranda really find herself in a relationship with someone so ordinary and honest? Charlotte and Samantha are still just fun dolls to play with. Later, it would not even be possible to place Charlotte in a story about a shoe fetish, for example. ()

Season 3 (2000) (S03)

englanti By Season 3 things started to properly unravel. No one was yet mature enough, even though Mr. Divine had already gone through a second marriage (and it still wasn't to Carrie). But is it possible not to be up to your ears in it after so many episodes? You find yourself rooting for Miranda, Sam, and Charlotte to finally find the sex they deserve. They really don't want that much from life. ;) ()

Season 4 (2001) (S04)

englanti The weaker Season 4 gives us nothing new and continues to go nowhere. Perhaps only the unexpected twist with who becomes a mother is new in some ways. Miranda doesn't want to, Charlotte does, so who do you think it's gonna be? And Samantha? She finally fell in love, a major event for this mature woman. Did anyone ever enjoy Aiden? It's hard to say. An unsuitable nature for Carrie and her emotional turmoil. Lesbians and models? No comment. ()

Season 5 (2002) (S05)

englanti I understand that the pregnancy of the show's main star is a reason to cut the number of episodes, but the result really wasn't a happy one. Carrie is willing to keep Mr. Big as a casual lover (what a novelty!), Miranda having a baby and possibly also accepting its father, and Samantha recovering from what could have been a relationship. And Charlotte? She understood that her prince charming didn't have to be handsome, but it was good enough if he was great in bed and loved her. But the most tiring thing is the self-reflection of the whole series because Carrie's newspaper columns inspired the filmmakers in the last season and now she has published them as a book. Boring. ()

Season 6 (2003) (S06)

englanti Perhaps the only thing I can say about the Season 6 is that it's still going in circles. The beginning of the series is horrible to the point of being unbearable, after which the whole thing turns into a fairy tale that can be tolerated. Charlotte realizes her maternal instincts as a dog lover for the time being, while Miranda moves to Brooklyn with her family (happily ever after), but just before she marries the father of her child, she manages to have an affair with a black man just like in her favorite soap opera. Okay, fine. Samantha finds support and happiness in a monogamous relationship and deals with breast cancer. And since even nuns can have the same diagnosis, everything is perfectly fine. And Carrie? She had a French fling and Mr. Big understood that she is the one (well done!). However, because of this experience, she dropped her Sex and the City newspaper column, and the fairy tale was over. In the end, it wasn't so much about sex, but more about the classic search for that old-world happiness. How is it possible that this premise has been made into two movies and two more TV shows? ()
