Every Indian film star has their own “boy” who keeps track of how long makeup will take, serves a cool beverage when it is hot out and tea towards evening, holds an umbrella when it rains and a sunshade when the sun shines. Irfam is a dreamer and daydreams about getting away from Mumbai’s slum where he lives with his mother. When he is offered to become a “boy” for the rising Bollywood star Siya, he sees his dream within reach. The leitmotif goes, “It’s a dirty dirty business” and Siya is drawn into a romance with their co-star and also becomes infatuated with his bad habits. Naturally, it’s Siya’s “boy” who covers for her.
