The Son of the Hunter

In July of 2015, Luis Alberto Quijano declared himself a witness in the “megacase” of La Perla for one of the worst crimes against humanity in the province of Cordoba during the last military dictatorship in Argentina. In doing so, he denounced his own late father, the repressor Luis Alberto Cayetano Quijano who since the end of 2012 was being tried for 158 cases of aggravated, illegitimate deprivation of freedom, 154 cases of aggravated torture, 98 qualified homicides, five cases of torture followed by death, and the abduction of a minor of 10 years of age. Quijano narrated the abuse that he received from his family, the crimes at which he was present for in a clandestine detention center and the tasks that he was forced to undertake as an adolescent. On top of documenting his testimony, El hijo del cazador follows Quijano’s life story, tracing the way in which his conscience about his father’s actions transformed over time, and giving his vision of the years of the dictatorship from a perspective that has just begun to be visibilized: that of the children of those who committed this genocide.
