Yong-Nam (Cho Jung-seok) was one of the best rock climbers in college but hasn't had much luck elsewhere after graduation. He has no job prospects, still lives at home, and trains to hone his rock climbing skills at the local park, much to the chagrin of regular park dwellers. For his mother's 70th birthday, he insists on having the party at Dream Garden, because his old crush, Eui-Ju (Im Yoon-a) works there as the restaurant manager. But, when a disaster strikes, covering an entire district in Seoul with mysterious toxic gas, the entire party must move to the roof of the building to be helicoptered out, but they soon realize that the entryway to the roof is locked. Yong-Nam must then use his “unique set of skills," with the help of Eui-Ju to get everyone to safety. (Hawaii International Film Festival)

englanti Exit reminded me in some ways of this year's Alive. It's an intimate disaster-survival drama where a deadly gas has been unleashed on a city and the protagonist is in a hotel where his longtime love, who has long since rejected him. I liked that the main character is a climber and makes great use of his skills, climbing on buildings and rooftops, so there is no shortage of tension. The humour doesn't work that well and there isn't any riveting action either, but the film is still fun to watch, oozing with interesting ideas, the duo of main characters are charismatic, and the visuals are top notch. Fans of disaster flicks might find it a good one. Story***, Action*** Humor**, Violence>No, Entertainment****, Music***, Visuals****, Atmosphere***, Suspense****. 6.5/10. ()

englanti It might seem lately like I'm voluntarily getting into Korean B-movies I might have known beforehand I wouldn't be very excited about. But believe me, I had good reason to, and now I promise I'll be choosing my own movies again for a while. Exit is a pretty bland film that you can definitely do without as a viewer. On the other hand, it’s not lacking in wit, hyperbole, and a bit of suspense. The duo of Yoona and Jeong-seok don't show anything spectacular apart from the stunts, but hand in hand, they dance their way together to an ending that makes you smile and say "not bad". A weaker 3 stars. ()
