Aallokot eivät ole koskaan olleet kauhistuttavampia kuin tässä sykähdyttävän jännittävässä seikkailussa. Richard Harris ja Omar Sharif johtavat nimekästä tähtikaartia, mm. Oscar®-voittaja Anthony Hopkins, trillerissä, joka pitää otteessaan! HMS Britannic on myrskyn vankina keskellä merta. Todellinen uhka piilee kuitenkin laivan uumenissa: terroristi nimeltä "Juggernaut" on virittänyt alukseen seitsemän pommia ja vaatii kovat lunnaat matkustajien hengestä. Pommiasiantuntija Fallon (Harris) lennätetään paikalle, ja neuvottelujen epäonnistuttua hänellä on edessään elämänsä tuskallisin haaste kellon tikittäessä uhmaavaa vauhtia... (SF Film Fin.)

A classic adventure genre film, where the producer bet on a strong cast, featuring top-notch actors even in supporting roles. Richard Harris hadn't yet fallen into his B-movie phase and sometimes had something other than a bottle in his hand, while Omar Sharif exuded charming exoticism. The screenplay managed to make good use of the potential of a ship in the middle of the ocean with explosives on board, but it was a script misstep in the end that prevented me from giving it a four-star rating. In a tense moment when the main character decides whether to obey the terrorist's command, he doesn't inform the other bomb squad members which wire he's cutting, which would inevitably lead to the ship sinking in case of failure. This seemingly minor glitch is actually crucial. However, it must be acknowledged that such films never relied on viewers' thought processes, but on emotions. Overall impression: 65%.

A very good disaster film for its day, shown several times on the then ČTV (hey, how about a repeat?). The final choice between "red and blue" is unforgettable, it was my childhood nightmare :)

Long before the Yanks turned the story of Titanic into a movie, the story of Britannic arrived on the screen. The story isn’t as brutal, but it certainly doesn’t lack suspense. At the same time, this is probably a movie that is most popular with bomb disposal experts, who will be happy to enjoy the suspense this movie provides. I would rather not.

It would almost seem that the film is dated, but because of the performances here, the fact that not a single actor phoned it in, and the fact that it's really suspenseful as it gets closer to the end, you'll forgive the clichés because the filmmakers really tried to keep audiences on their toes. And they did a great job of it. Richard Harris excels.
