Wind Traces

Carmen, depressed and unable to take care of her children, awaits the return of her husband. Daniel, the youngest child receives an unexpected visit, which goes beyond the limits of reality and his imagination. Ana, the oldest child rejects adult life. Together, the three of them try to accept what they cannot see. Told by their mother that their father isn't really gone, the seven-year-old son imagines him coming back as cadaver, a mix of an antlered head, face mask and Native American ceremonial robe, plus blackened hands. But while Carmen takes to bed, drink, pill-popping, it is the daughter and son who resurface far quicker from processing loss. Beautifully captured images of the family's house in nostalgic, retro-style tone, mirror the closed mind of the family incapable of accepting the loss. (Busan International Film Festival)
