Cristina (Iulia Lumânare) and Tudor Ionescu (Bogdan Dumitrache) have founded a happy family with their two children, Maria (Adela Marghidan) and Ilie (Stefan Raus). He works for a phone company and she is an accountant. They are in their thirties and live in a nice apartment in a Romanian town. They live the life of an ordinary couple with their children. But one Sunday morning when Tudor takes his kids to the park, Maria disappears. Their lives abruptly change forever. (San Sebastian International Film Festival)

A very difficult movie, which definitely isn’t for everyone. Quite the opposite. A blockbuster viewer, for example, would probably die of boredom because the endless shots could be easily shortened by an hour and the film wouldn’t have to be 152 minutes long at all. But on the other hand, it is in the long shots where the power lies and it turns the movie into a unique experience, which isn’t worth 5 stars in my books, but on the other hand, I don’t claim there’s nothing special about it. The character of the dad is, in the case of this movie, Oscar-worthy. The performance he gave is unparalleled in the movie industry.
