englanti Jiří Vejdělek simply knows how to create these real-life-like stories. And what’s more, people like to see them in the movies (which is great) so he keeps making more. Tátova volha is a chillout story with all characters played by great actors, where each role has a different message that will either make you laugh or educate you. I was struggling personally with the role of Tatiana Vilhelmová. I had a hard time accepting the way her character behaved. Not only did I dislike her behavior towards her husband (played by Martin Myšička) who was my favourite character in the movie, but I was also shocked how heartless she could act towards her own mother, who was played by Eliška Balzerová with her typical nonchalance. On the other hand, it all worked together and I liked how everyone had a unique personality, and it’s up to the audience to either accept them or condemn them. Doing the latter was easier because we prefer to condemn others to realizing our own shortcomings. It was nice and I don’t think there is any reason why I wouldn’t rewatch this movie some time in the future. ()

englanti A classic film by Vejdělek about nothing. Unfortunately, it's this form of filmmaking that audiences like to enjoy, to the point of liking the simplest of jokes. It will probably do ok on TV. ()

englanti Patrimony is a film mainly about interpersonal relationships (family and partner) and coping with the wheels of fate (a serious illness and secrets from the past). It is quite unpretentious and easygoing – the tragic, but also comic level is kept at bay, which is a pity in both cases, as more could have been made of it. The cast, on the other hand, was well chosen, I was most impressed by the lines with Eva Holubová and Bolek Polívka. I also have to give the film a plus point for some understatement at the end. A film that doesn't offend, but doesn't amaze either, and the most disappointing thing about it is the untapped potential, considering the subject and the cast. ()

englanti The beginning was tragic and depressing. I don't mind a depressing atmosphere, but it all seemed rather artificial to me. Plus, what kind of Czech film would it be without cancer in it, right? I am glad that Jiří Vejdělek didn’t go for a two-hour running time. Ninety minutes of boredom and occasional awkward moments were enough. I give one star for the stellar cast (despite its wasted potential) and a second one for the beautiful vintage car. ()
