Karel Kachyňa created a psychological drama out of the story 'The Sad Eyes Hana Karadžičová' FROM Ivan Olbracht. It tells of a Jewish girl led to tragedy through love. Hana's passionate awakening for a man who has turned away FROM traditional faith results in her condemnation by the Jewish community and her own family disowning her.
