Park Yeol, a Korean anarchist in Tokyo formed a secret organization, in 1923. Kaneko Fumiko, though Japanese, became his sweetheart and stood with him against Japan. In the confused aftermath of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, over 6000 innocent Koreans were slaughtered in a bloody atrocity. To evade responsibility, Japanese authorities falsely accused Park Yeol, saying he tried to assassinate Crown Prince Hirohito. Park Yeol and Fumiko voluntarily appeared and admitted all the false allegations, and ridiculed Japanese imperialism in the courtroom. Anarchist Park Yeol points blame at officials' consciousness of authority and false awareness, proving he is a free spirit, while Fumiko dominates the screen as a hidden protagonist. Her charisma is such that this film could be called one about Kaneko Fumiko, instead of Park Yeol. (Busan International Film Festival)
