Whether in a series format or in a film format, this is an incredibly interesting saga that shows that we have quite a close proximity to surrealism, or rather to magical elements in reality, in our filmography. And it works. At the same time, it is a story that is very realistic and very human, beautiful and cruel. Jakubisko here demonstrates his directorial power and fearlessness of a grand theme.
