I didn't expect much from it, and you can indeed see how it's taking quite a calm path. It could have been much more intense, but this is still Ron Howard, who tends to take the middle road. But it does make sense, it has a message, and it wants to show how bored we really are. The funny thing is that the reality of the film also becomes the reality of the present. A celebrity can be an incompetent person who isn't even as good as Ed.
