Moninkertaisesti palkittu brittikomedia naurattaa kyynelten läpi Fleabagina tunnettu parikymppinen nainen saapuu Lontooseen taustallaan tragedia: parhaan ystävän kuolema. Fleabagin äitikin on kuollut. (YLE)

Fleabag (2016)

englanti The second season was a one-star improvement over the first one. I wasn’t really convinced by the first season, but the second one got rid of most of the flaws, so I was finally able to fully enjoy it. I found the protagonist likeable precisely for the qualities that annoyed the people around her. In fact, she seemed like the most normal character, unlike all the others whose lives followed clearly defined paths. Phoebe Waller-Bridge delivered an overall excellent performance and her character scored a lot of points with me. ()

Season 1 (2016) (S01)

englanti After the first season, I'm not entirely sure if the comedy/drama combination was the right move in this case. I would have probably liked the story better if it had been purely a comedy. If the fate of the protagonist had been treated as a full-blown drama, it could have been great, too, so I felt that the result was somehow half-baked. The potential was there, the humor worked for me, but every time I started enjoying a more depressing atmosphere, things took a turn. Anyway, it was still definitely above average. ()

Season 2 (2019) (S02)

englanti I had some quibbles with the first season. The fusion of comedy and drama just didn't do it for me, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. The second season was quite the surprise. I don't know if I was just in the right mood for it or if the creators stepped up their game regarding the mixture of humor and depression, but I had a lot more fun this time. Phoebe Waller-Bridge gave an excellent performance again, and I also liked Andrew Scott, who seemed to be really enjoying the role of a priest. A clear improvement. ()
