Marthe's Secret

Since her mother's tragic death, Marthe has lived with her aunt. But her aunt takes advantage of the girl's talents as healer and midwife to make money. She sends Marthe to the court of the Count, whose wife is in the painful throes of childbirth. Marthe quickly realizes mother and child are doomed. She flees in order to escape the Count's wrath, joining and trek of settlers, led by the knight Sir Christian, who is fascinated by Marthe.
