A Young Patriot

A young generation of Chinese born in the 1990s expresses a passionate patriotism for their country. Du Haibin's documentary portrays Zhao Chantong, a teenage art student in Pingyao who admires Chairman Mao and who is a flag-waving, military-uniform wearing, slogan-shouting youth. Zhao must negotiate with the realities of contemporary China in his passage into adulthood. (Moscow International Film Festival)
